A CLINICAL STUDY OF DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS AND MANAGEMENT

Introduction: Diabetic foot may be defined as a group of syndromes in which neuropathy, ischemia and infection lead to tissue breakdown, resulting morbidity possible amputation. Foot problem remains very common people with diabetes throughout the world, affecting up 15% diabetic patients during their life time. The aim this study is assess various presentations ulcers surgical management. Materials Methods:This hospital based prospective observational conducted 50patients admitted department General Surgery at Zoram Medical College (ZMC), Falkawn, Mizoram period November 2017 December 2021. All mellitus suffering from all age groups, incidental diagnosis ulcers, gangrenous complicated by are included.Patients infections or gangrene without incomplete treatment excluded. Results: commonest presentation ulcer followed abscess. most site lesion toes (42%) dorsum (30%) planter (16%). 72% (36) had 14% vasculopathy 10% both. 30 (60%) healed debridement dressing alone, 11 (22%) need amputation disarticulation heal. Skin grafting done 9 patients. No patient dies ulcer. Conclusion: complication prolonged increases duration disease. management should on knowledge pathophysiology practice new modalities.
